Scooter: light and relaxed

A Scoopy-style automatic scooter is ideal for local cafés, nearby temples and short paved rides. Choose it when easy handling matters more than speed or luggage space.

PCX / ADV: more comfort

A 150–160cc scooter gives more stability, storage and comfort for two people or longer paved routes. Mountain riding still requires confidence, careful braking and realistic timing.

Big bike or dual-sport

A larger touring or dual-sport bike suits experienced, correctly licensed riders. Unpaved tracks require the right tyres, protective equipment and confirmed legal access—never assume a forest trail is open.

Road safety

  • Ride on the left and wear a fastened quality helmet
  • Use jacket, gloves, long trousers and closed shoes
  • Slow down for rain, gravel, animals and blind curves

Questions riders ask

Chiang Rai motorbike rental FAQ

Can I rent a motorbike directly on this website?
No. This is an independent information guide. My Paradise accommodation guests can add a scooter or motorbike after their room booking is confirmed, subject to availability.
Which scooter is best for Chiang Rai?
A light automatic scooter is comfortable for nearby sights and city riding. For two people, luggage or longer paved mountain days, a 150–160cc PCX/ADV-style scooter is usually the more comfortable choice.
Do I need an International Driving Permit in Thailand?
Visitors driving in Thailand should carry a valid national licence, passport and an International Driving Permit appropriate for the vehicle class. Confirm that your licence includes motorcycle entitlement.
Can a beginner ride to Mae Salong or Phu Chi Fa?
These are mountain journeys with curves, gradients and changing weather. They are not good places to learn basic riding. Beginners should start with short local paved rides or choose a private driver.
Can I take a scooter off-road?
Ordinary road scooters are not designed for rough trails. Legal access, tyres, ground clearance, rider experience and current weather all matter. Use a suitable bike and local guidance.
Why start at My Paradise?
My Paradise offers a quiet base near local countryside roads, guest-only motorbike arrangements and Maya concierge planning after booking—plus space, breakfast, a garden and pool when the ride is over.
